All the topics on the classroom one-day Emergency First Aid at Work course can be found on the online course. The difference is that there is no tutor who can physically assess the student's learning.

Course Content:

To obtain an accredited certificate, the student will need to attend 2 days of tutor-led course which covers revision, theory assessment and practical assessments.

In office environments, companies normally have one or two first Aiders attending the 3-day FAW course and more attending the 1-day EFAW.

Course Content:

Topics covered on the 3-day First Aid at work classroom course are all covered on the online First Aid at Work course.

The topics on the one-day Emergency First Aid at Work course are also covered on the online First Aid at Work course.

Although FAW is focused on first aid for adults, first aid for children is mentioned to illustrate the similarities and differences. If you work with children, see Paediatric First Aid course.

Unit 1:
Emergency First Aid in the Workplace.

Paediatric First Aid (2 days) - online

This two-day course covers mild and severe choking, external bleeding, shock, bites, stings, suspected bone, head and spinal injuries, eye, ears and nose injuries, acute medical condition or sudden illness, body temperature extremes, electric shock, burns and scalds, suspected poisoning and anaphylaxis. This course is ideal for people working with children and infants such as childminders and those working in schools and nurseries.

Course Content:

Unit 1: Emergency Paediatric First Aid

- Understand the role and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider
- Be able to assess an emergency situation safely
- Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who are unresponsive
- Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who are choking
- Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child who is suff from shock
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with bites, stings and minor injuries>

Unit 2: Managing paediatric illness, injuries and emergencies

- Be able to provide first aid to an infant or a child with suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints.
- Be able to provide first aid to an infant or a child with suspected head and spinal injuries
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with conditions aff the eyes, ears and nose
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with an acute medical condition or sudden illness
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child who is experiencing extremes of body temperature
